MENDAKI Policy Digest 2008

Retaining features from the 2007 issue, the 2008 edition consists of three sections. The first section continues to discuss social trends, issues and observations of the four strategic areas delineated by the Community Leaders’ Forum – Family, Employability, Youth and Education.

Adopting a discursive approach, each article connects the dots between the multiplicities of issues at hand with the foreseeable turbulence from the economic crisis and explores new pivots for strategic intervention.

In the next section, the five articles engage readers with reflections into aspects of critical concerns that may be evidently needed in social intervention planning. Drawing upon the mental energy of increasingly visible youthful members of the Malay/ Muslim community in the academia, the final section attempts to resurface ideas that have been long embedded in the social fabric with intellectually challenging presentations through contemporary lenses.
