Yayasan MENDAKI is the pioneer Self-Help Group in providing tuition for the public. MENDAKI Tuition Scheme (MTS) aims to provide quality tuition at affordable rates to help students attain better results in their school and national examinations.
The Collaborative Tuition Programme (CTP) was introduced as part of collaboration with the other Self-Help Group (SHGs). The centres offer quality and affordable tuition to primary school students of all races and religion. The Self-Help Groups grant the tuition fee subsidy to the respective students according to race.
Mr Yusoff Supomo began his journey with MENDAKI in 1991 as a Sec 1 student in the Learning Support Programme (LSP). LSP was a mentoring programme for students who were not doing well academically. Inspired by his LSP mentors, Mr Yusoff came back as a mentor himself in 2014. Today, the Restaurant Manager is the Lead Mentor for the MTS centre at Hougang Sec, and continues to inspire students the same way his mentors did, more than 20 years ago!
To Mohamad Alfian Bin Mohamad Rosdin shares his thoughts on receiving TTFS,” It has really helped in my tuition fees payment. Now I do not need to worry about looking for financial assistance every semester. ” The subsidy, which covers 100% of his tuition fees, has enabled him to better focus on his studies and future.
Leila, a recipient of the Joint Tuition Awards, for Best Overall Academic Performance (PSLE Level) shares her thoughts on MTS: "I really like the tutors because they were very helpful in making the learning environment a really enjoyable one. Some of them even went the extra mile to print notes that they have prepared for my classmates and me."
Jumaiyah from Halalfoodhunt talks about why the sharing of knowledge is important. “It can change lives and save lives! Once we step out of school and start working, we don’t know who has access to certain types of information. If we just share, we help each other out!”
