BUILDING A COMMUNITY OF SUCCESS of the Future Ready Toolkit, our youth and young professionals can look forward to benefitting from a whole ecosystem of well-equipped mentors in the community. Developing a culture of lifelong learning To be relevant in a fast-changing world, upskilling and re-skilling should be a lifelong endeavour. Technological disruption and the emergence of a gig economy will see many routine roles replaced with automation, and a decline in permanent jobs (Schwab, 2016). The Government’s SkillsFuture initiative, which is a national movement, provides Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential through skills mastery. In line with this philosophy, MENDAKI launched the very first Raikan Ilmu (‘Celebrate Knowledge’) in October 2019 to inculcate a culture of learning throughout all ages in the Malay/ Muslim community. The campaign saw more than 50 educational activities and initiatives organised by MENDAKI and close to 100 partners. All in all, Raikan Ilmu benefitted more than 30,000 participants, through our outreach and collaborative efforts. This is a testament to the commitment of our Malay/Muslim families to support the educational development of their children. Moving forward, Raikan Ilmu will be an annual affair for MENDAKI. We hope that more partners will come forward to support Raikan Ilmu and Learning Festival in the future, so together, we can realise our shared vision of a Community of Success.
