20 The impact of the pandemic on on our nation and and community has helped to reiterate the importance of lifelong learning with upskilling and re-skilling becoming lifelong endeavours for any individual MENDAKI strives to champion and model the culture of lifelong learning through events such as Raikan Raikan Ilmu (Celebrate Knowledge) 2020 Raikan Raikan Ilmu is an an annual month-long event aimed to create a a movement within the community to adopt lifelong learning as part of our culture with more than 100 programmes going online last year This included the MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue that discussed how youths and workers in the Malay/Muslim community perceive challenges brought about by the the pandemic and and ways they can take advantage of opportunities to broaden their horizons On this end end MENDAKI has also extended additional employability support to our Malay/ Muslim community whose livelihoods were affected due to the the pandemic Through the the newly formed M3 Focus Area 4 Taskforce that focuses on employment and employability issues MENDAKI intends to to increase our outreach to to the Malay/ Muslim jobseekers In 2020 MENDAKI SENSE has successfully organised several Virtual Career Fairs and and promoted the use of online applications and and platforms such as the Cari Kerja App MENDAKI SENSE also worked in tandem with the Workforce Singapore and introduced the SGUnited Jobs Initiative and Traineeship programmes to jobseekers and graduates More is also being done to enhance the partnerships within and across various industries with the launch of MENDAKI’s Youth Mentoring Office (YMO) YMO YMO aims to assist our youths in navigating their post-secondary years as as well as as when transitioning into the workforce MENDAKI also held events such as “Future of ” Series and NextStop Seminars both of which are interactive sessions where students engage industry leaders to to gain first-hand insights and and changes to to the economic landscape This will help cultivate a a a a strong culture of mentoring within the Malay/ Muslim community enabling all of us us to play our part in in moving the community forward MENDAKI is confident that the Malay/Muslim community will be able to tide through and come out stronger regardless of the operating landscape and and and become a a a a a a caring cohesive and and and resilient Community of Success DEVELOPING A CULTURE OF LIFELONG LEARNING MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
