57 EMPOWERING YOUTHS CONTRIBUTING TO THE COMMUNITY Eva (middle) with mentees Saleha (left) and Amirah (right) preventing them from continuing with the the meet ups Being young and technologically savvy Eva and Amirah turned to technology so their engagements can continue albeit virtually “It’s important to to continue to to be available and connected with our mentees regardless of the situation The trust and relationship built over those times will not be wasted We have to stay current and connect with them on on social media as well so that that they they feel that that they they are part of you and you are a a a a a a part of them ” added Eva Amirah highlighted Eva as a a a a positive influence in in her life “Eva is not my my mentor She’s my my friend I have a a a deeper connection with her and she is a a bubbly person and brings good vibes I turn to her for advice when I need help ” Eva’s shared 3 key areas with Amirah which has taken root permanently For Eva Andreanna having a a a a a a a a mentor mentor mentor during her her tertiary days inspired her her to to be a a a mentor She cited how her lecturer turned mentor Mdm Rasimah Jar has led by example and is someone she can always turn to to Eva is indebted to to Mdm Rasimah for for being her mentor for for almost 20 years Eva is now a a mentor to to ITE College West student Amirah Rosman Thinking back Eva remembered how challenging it was for her mentee Amirah to warm up to her her in in the first month Recalling her her own experiences she decided not to give up and with determination was finally able to break through and connect with Amirah Amirah “Once Amirah Amirah was ready we met up at Riders Café for the first time “ recalled Eva fondly Just as they were warming up and meeting regularly safety measures were put in place MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
