Job Summary
The jobholder (2-year contract) supports the Deputy Director and Assistant Director at School Ready Team in its public education efforts to advance the importance of early learning and parents involvement in supporting better children outcomes. He/She is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the team’s public education initiatives and cultivating strong partnerships for stronger families.
The incumbent is responsible for:
a. Engaging community stakeholders to build and deepen support to achieve greater impact among the children and parents served by the organisation and partner agencies.
b. Design outreach initiatives to promote learning in families
c. Strengthen partnerships to bridge families to learning opportunities
d. Design and maintain SOPs for initiatives that will benefit the targeted Malay/Muslim parents as well as children in response to meeting the needs of the community.
The jobholder is expected to work from 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on weekdays. The jobholder is largely expected to work in an office environment. On occasion, the jobholder may need to work outside official hours on weekends to support in the running of programmes/events.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic and Partnership Management
a. Keep abreast of latest trends in early childhood landscape at the community and national levels.
b. Work hand-in-hand with teams to co-create and design suitable initiatives and interventions to increase awareness on the importance of early learning
c. Work with stakeholders and partners in implementing key School Ready initiatives.
d. Collaborate with key teams in MENDAKI (such as Comms, CDLT, Research and Programme Evaluation etc) to ensure alignment of messaging and workplan targets.
e. Support the team in identifying and networking with potential and existing partners.
Team Leadership and Management
a. Set goals and performance standards for direct reports.
b. Mentor direct reports and provide feedback to support their personal and professional development.
c. Manage the implementation budget plans and propose utilisation to manage resource allocations to department’s programmes.
Programme Development, Knowledge and Research
a. Conduct periodic environmental scanning of relevant programmes and initiatives
b. Provide insights and create content to enhance public education initiatives
Requirements
a. At least 5 years of relevant working experience in early childhood or social service sector
b. Supervisory experience required.
c. A degree in Early Childhood, Psychology or related discipline is preferred.
d. Able to work independently and in teams.
e. Confident and has a good working attitude.
f. Good written and verbal communication skills.
g. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment across different levels.
h. Strong IT literacy and ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
i. Team leadership skills to make sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
j. Strong project management skills
k. Able to interpret and analyse data
