Assistant Director, School Ready

Job Summary

The jobholder (2-year contract) reports to the Head of Department (HOD) and is responsible to assist with translating organisational vision into actionable strategies for school readiness programmes, manage multiple initiatives and make data-informed decisions about  policy, partnerships, programmes and initiatives under the School Ready, Growth Group.  He/She is to meet the organisation’s mission by working closely with various stakeholders.

The job holder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. The job holder is largely expected to work in an office environment. On occasion, the job holder may need to work outside official hours on weekends to support in the running of events.

Key Responsibility Areas

Strategy Development and Implementation

a.   Assist to develop and implement strategies designed to support the well-being of parents with young children. This may include initiatives to improve access to learning opportunities in different settings.

b.   Develop and implement enhancements to existing and new developmentally appropriate programmes based on the needs of the community served. This could involve innovative service delivery methods, establish quality benchmarks, exploring new funding opportunities, or implementing technology to improve service delivery and monitoring outcomes.

c.   Formulate and review operational policies to enhance service delivery and system efficacy.

d.   Design and maintain standards and SOPs for the team.

e.   Monitor operational outcomes to enable continuous improvement.

 

Partnership and Collaboration

a.   Works with organisations to promote and develop programmes and services for parents with young children. This includes fostering partnerships with government entities, community partners and other relevant stakeholders.

b.   Strengthen existing partnerships and establish new partnerships to reach and engage with a wider range of community networks.

 

Research and Development

a.   Responsible for staying up to date with the latest research early learning.

b.   Collaborate with partners to incorporate relevant findings into strategies and programmes to determine their effectiveness and efficiency. This involves analysing program performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance program outcomes.

 

Community Outreach

a.  Engage with the community, including older adults and their families, to understand their needs and preferences.

b.  Engage community stakeholders to build and deepen support to achieve greater impact among the children and parents served by the organisation and partner agencies.

c.   Oversee campaigns to raise awareness about available resources and programmes and gather feedback to inform future strategies.

 

Budgeting and Resource Allocation

a.  Oversight of financial aspects of all programmes; including the funding, preparation and management of budgets.

b.  Ensure optimal utilisation of resources.

c.   Assist to mentor staff and fostering a collaborative team environment.

 

Requirements

a.  At least 8 years of relevant working experience in early childhood or social service sector.

b.  Minimum a Degree in Early Childhood, Psychology or related discipline is preferred.

c.   Able to work independently and in teams.

d.  Confident and has a good working attitude.

e.  Good written and verbal communication skills.

f.    Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

g.  Strong IT literacy and ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
