Job Summary
The jobholder (2-year contract) supports the HOD in ensuring the efficiency and smooth operations of Partnerships Department by focusing on the management (including recognition) of volunteers and community partners. The candidate will spearhead Partnership’s Leadership Development Unit (LDU) where he/she helps to strategise, formulate and implement the leadership programmes, including the TUNAS BERSAMA M3 (TUNAS) programme. His/her roles also include identifying, developing, and engaging identified volunteers and community partners to hold key appointments in various community and public organisations.
The candidate will also oversee the Volunteer Management (VMU) and the Community Leadership Forum (CLF) units in Partnerships. He/She is responsible for overseeing and formulating the various initiatives by the VMU and the development and implementation of the Volunteers Management Competency Development Framework. He/She is also responsible for the management of the MMCDF Grant by the CLF unit and establishing good relations with community partners.
He/She is responsible for working in partnership with the Communications Department and programme managers to elevate the image of Yayasan MENDAKI as a professional and credible organisation to encourage individuals and corporate organisations to volunteer and partner with Yayasan MENDAKI in donating and supporting its programmes.
He/She is expected to work between 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although he/she is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, he/she is also expected to travel frequently for meetings.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic and Stakeholders’ Management
a. One of the co-leads that engages stakeholders managed by Partnerships department, eg corporate and community partners, volunteers, donors, award/bursary/scholarships recipients.
b. Develop, drive, and continuously refine organisation-wide stakeholder engagement and partnership strategies to strengthen MENDAKI’s ecosystem of support, enhance programme delivery, and increase community impact. This includes identifying emerging trends, gaps, and opportunities within the stakeholder landscape and translating them into actionable initiatives.
c. Lead and oversee the end-to-end stakeholder lifecycle, including engagement, onboarding, stewardship, retention, and succession planning, to ensure a positive and consistent stakeholder experience and sustained engagement with MENDAKI.
d. Collaborate closely with other departments to align stakeholder partnerships with programme needs and organisational priorities, ensuring stakeholder contributions are effectively integrated to maximise impact and outcomes.
e. Monitor, evaluate, and report on stakeholder engagement and partnership outcomes, using data and insights to inform continuous improvement, support decision-making, and meet organisational reporting and governance requirements.
Professional Leadership Development Initiatives
a. Identify, plan, oversee and drive organisation-wide leadership development initiatives, including TUNAS, for MENAKI’s volunteers and community partners to meet current and future needs of MENDAKI and the community.
b. Identify and groom volunteers with leadership potential and provide opportunities to develop them as volunteer leaders, eg. taking the lead in project teams, coordinating community outreach initiatives, attending courses, etc.
c. Identify volunteers and community partners with high leadership potential to be placed in strategic committees.
d. Identify and create opportunities for our volunteers to be recognised and/or receive awards at national level.
e. Develop, review, and implement strategies to attract stakeholders (individuals and corporate organisations) to partner with MENDAKI to help in the delivery of its programmes.
Team Leadership and Management
a. Lead and manage the teams in the department.
b. Develop and implement the department workplans and achieve the targets set, setting and cascading departmental goals to individual staff goals and outcomes.
c. Manage direct reports and provide feedback to support their personal and professional development.
d. Ensure staff under his/her charge clocked at least 60hrs of training yearly.
e. Mentor and coach team members to build leadership capacity and succession readiness within the department.
Financial Planning and Management
a. Develop and implement the departmental budget.
b. Assist the Head of Department in the department’s forecasting and budgeting activities.
c. Ensure proper governance and effective utilisation of department resources and budget.
Other Duties
a. Perform any other duties as directed and assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Requirements
a. 5 – 7 years of relevant professional experience preferred.
b. Minimum degree in Marketing, Human Resource, Psychology, Business Administration or media.
c. Experience in leading a team is vital.
d. Experience in the areas of learning & leadership development, talent management and career development would be advantages.
e. Experienced working in or having vast experience collaborating with stakeholders (individuals, corporate or community organisations) would be an advantage.
f. Involved in managing or contributing to the company’s Community Social Responsibility initiative would be an advantage.
g. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage stakeholders across different levels.
h. Able to communicate persuasively.
i. Team leadership skills.
j. Strategic partner with strong engagement and collaboration skills to work in close partnership with various stakeholders.
k. Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills.
l. Flexible, resourceful and ability to handle multiple consecutive projects effectively.
