According to Population Trends provided by Singapore Department of Statistics in 2014, Malay youths aged 15 to 34 made up 33% of the 516,657 Malay populations. This is greater than the youth population of other ethnicities, namely 28% of the Indian population and 26.6% of the Chinese population. As such, collective efforts from our community are required to provide services and programmes that cater to the needs of the Malay youth.
Most students engage in formal systematic learning in school. As one of the hallmarks of a developed country, the curriculums in our local schools prepare the young for adulthood. Formally and informally, it is crucial to foster a holistic intervention from home, school and community in order to educate our children and youth towards success in the twenty-first century.
MENDAKI’s youth programmes focus on the strengths of the young through the philosophy of Positive Youth Development.
