35 PERFORM IN SCHOOL 2020 was not without its challenges particularly in the education landscape As Singapore entered Circuit Breaker workplaces had to to be closed and schools moved to to full Home- Based Learning (HBL) With the introduction of of alternative methods of of learning the home was inadvertently transformed into a a a a a classroom This had created a a a unique environment never experienced before As students found ways to adapt it was crucial for parents to balance and cope with supporting their child’s HBL needs while they work from home (WFH) and manage the family unit In its commitment to empower the Malay/Muslim community to progress forward e-Brunch with MENDAKI brought parents together to to address concerns that may arise during this challenging time Organised by the Perform in School pillar the first online parenting seminar equipped parents with knowledge and resources to understand their their child better and and support their their learning at home Streamed live on on Facebook the engaging session attracted more than 200 viewers and saw parents sharing their concerns on on HBL and the the the roles they can play in in in ensuring their children’s learning are not disrupted Parents were also kept abreast on the the changes in in the the PSLE scoring system that will be implemented in 2021 Beyond the seminar MENDAKI will continue to support both parents and students in in providing a continuum of holistic development through its programmes especially in this time of heightened uncertainty MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
