33 SCHOOL READY The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has has caused disruptions to our daily lives and has impacted the way we work and live Indeed it was a a a a stressful time for families due to all the changes and uncertainties Parents with young children face many challenges coping with the demands of ensuring that their children’s learning are not disrupted and having to work either from home or at the office On Sunday 26 July 2020 MENDAKI went ‘live’ on Facebook with another installation of e-Brunch with MENDAKI titled ‘Transitioning to Primary School in in a Post-COVID World: Empowering Parents for Resilient Children’ Complementing MENDAKI Education Symposium 2020 the online seminar looked at at how the operating landscape had impacted preschoolers’ learning and their readiness for primary school The online seminar was graced by then Senior Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Family and Social Development & Ministry of of Education Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim He highlighted on the importance of parent-child relationship management for a a a a successful transition from preschool to primary school school He also highlighted the available community and national initiatives that parents can tap on for assistance Guest speakers Ms Noor Hayati Amid and and celebrity couple Syarif and and Malaque shared on providing children with opportunities to experience challenges such as adapting to learning norms during the current COVID situation Close to 150 parents and practitioners logged on on to to the online seminar that hoped to to inspire them to engage their children in a a more engaging and effective manner taking into consideration the unique qualities of each child MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
