66 PROFESSIONAL NETWORKS @ MENDAKI: FACILITATING CONTRIBUTIONS OF OF PROFESSIONALS TO UPLIFT THE COMMUNITY “It’s during your your journey of of contributing to another success success that you you you may reach your your form of of self-success ” As As an an an Anugerah MENDAKI recipient in in 2005 and a a a student loan holder in 2008 Nurul Asyikeen Azhar felt that it was her duty to give back to the community After getting involved with several social causes Asyikeen eventually became a a MENDAKI volunteer in 2019 Currently Asyikeen juggles between her work as a a Data Analyst and her volunteering commitments Asyikeen is actively involved in in MENDAKI’s Institute of Higher Learning engagement sessions with youths In addition to that she also contributed her time and expertise as a a a a a speaker at the Future Ready Emerging Industries Series The series targets youths and young professionals to keep them abreast of the the demands and and opportunities of the various emerging industries When she was asked to speak at the Emerging Industries Series on Data and AI during the Circuit Breaker period Asyikeen was at first apprehensive as she is someone who enjoys in person interactions Taking on on on the challenge and confronting her uncertainties Asyikeen decided to accept the invitation and deliver her sharing on on a a a virtual platform “It was my first time presenting to an online audience I am glad they responded positively to my presentation and I am heartened to to be able to to share my knowledge to the youths knowing that they will benefit from fit it ” The Emerging Industry Series aims to widen students and youth world view of the emerging industries to help them make informed decisions Asyikeen credited the Future Ready team for providing her with opportunities to be a a part of the various initiatives To prepare for a a post-COVID world Asyikeen encouraged our our youths to plan for their future “Our youths of today have to to to be resilient due to to to the current situation They must find their strengths and leverage opportunities provided Tap on national and and community initiatives to upskill and and upgrade Talk to to people in in the industry to to glean insights and learn from other people’s mistakes Growing social capital is important as they are soft skills which prospective employers look for during hiring ” MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
