75 MENTORING DURING COVID-19 “Looking back at the past year I can’t help but to be ever so thankful for how things turned out When the Circuit Breaker hit we we were all worried We took a a a quick step back re-strategised and re-directed our engagements online to ensure that not only can our youths continue on on on their academic progress they can also focus on preparing to enter the working world ” reminisced Johann As As the the Assistant Director for the the Future Ready department (FRD) Johann oversees the department’s efforts in in engaging young people to be resilient and future ready This includes youth studying in in secondary secondary post-secondary and tertiary institutions as as well as as young professionals FRD runs several initiatives that strengthen youth awareness of the changing landscapes in education and work so that they can make informed decisions on on their future pathways and seize the the opportunities available to fulfil their potential When the Circuit Breaker first started Johann shared that they were unsure how long it would last and were unwilling to pause engagements just to see how the pandemic would play out They carefully thought about effective and sustainable MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
