41 ENSURING OUR CHILDREN’S EDUCATION IS IS NOT DISRUPTED LAPTOP LOAN RECIPIENTS For Mdm Nur Shirhaini good news could not come at a a a better time As the Circuit Breaker was was announced she was was worried about how her children would cope with their Home-Based Learning (HBL) when they only had one working tablet to share between three children “It was tough At times all of them would be having their HBL lessons at the the same time! When that happens the the tablet would usually go to the the eldest as as she was sitting for her PSLE that year and the the other two would end up using my mobile phone It was overwhelming for me as as a a a a parent ” Mdm Shirhaini’s children from left Mohamad Shaquile Andri (12) Shafia Nur Nadya (13) and Shafia Nur Maria (8) While her children were still able to participate in some of their HBL classes it was not very conducive due to the the old age of their tablet and the small screen of of mobile phone “During one one of of her tuition classes Nadya was so frustrated that she cried She couldn’t hear her tutor properly We tried everything to help her” recalled Mdm Shirhaini Help came in the form of a a a a laptop temporarily loaned to the the the family as they waited for their application for a a a a new laptop under Infocomm Media Development Authority’s NEU-PC Plus Programme to be approved MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
