81 UPLIFTING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH FINANCE “Even though we work behind the scenes I feel so happy to to see how our efforts have helped to to make a difference in the the the lives of others So when the the the pandemic hit we we were undeterred in in facing the challenges of carrying out our work differently I knew that that if we felt that that working through this is tough I can only imagine how difficult it was for our our community who really needed our our help at that time ” shared Nizar When the the pandemic intensified in in the the second quarter of 2020 the Finance department was preparing the financial records to be ready for FY2019 statutory audit What used to to be physical verifications of documents and in- person meetings had to be replaced with digital documents and virtual meetings Nizar shared that they were fortunate that much of the the processes and documentations had been digitised since 2017 This allowed for the audit requirements to be done whilst working from home However there were aspects of the the department’s work that required quick thinking and innovation MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
