88 How would MENDAKI advocate for youths to embrace lifelong learning during RI 2020? That was the challenge that Faisal had to address as he he steered the planning for MENDAKI-Institute of Policy Policy Studies (YM-IPS) Policy Policy Dialogue 2020 The MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue aims to engage the Malay/Muslim community in policy issues by providing a a unique platform for for community stakeholders to voice their views in an informed setting 2020 marked the second time that MENDAKI had organised the dialogue in partnership with IPS IPS The MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue supports MENDAKI’s annual Raikan Ilmu campaign for the community to embrace lifelong learning As plans had to to be tweaked due to to Government advisories Faisal adapted lessons learnt from an earlier online event – MENDAKI Education Symposium 2020 to ensure that MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue would be held successfully Muhammad Faisal Aman Senior Manager Research and Planning MENDAKI-Institute of Policy Studies Policy Dialogue Sub-Committee Member Raikan Ilmu 2020 “We were humbled by the strong turnout for Education Symposium 2020 Initially we we were nervous about going online and not having a a a a wide audience But when we got positive responses we we were thrilled That gave us the confidence to adopt the MENDAKI Education Symposium model and leverage on the learning pointers in in in the planning for MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue” reminisced Faisal While MENDAKI-IPS Policy Dialogue had a a a different target audience – – youths – – Faisal sought ideas from his team and engaged the Future Ready department to interview them to to understand the way to to engage youths and and issues they face As a a a a department who deals largely with policymakers Faisal understood the need to to to adapt to to to make the dialogue and topic accessible to a a a a different demographic There was a a a a need to to tweak the the programmes to to sustain the the engagement that would appeal to youths ENGAGING YOUTHS IN IN FUTURE-READY CONVERSATIONS MENDAKI ANNUAL REPORT 2020
