Study Loan Full Time Local National

The MENDAKI Study Loan Full Time Local National is available for all Malay/Muslim students. It aims to uplift the educational performance of the Muslim Community by providing interest-free loans to Muslim students who require financial aid. It helps to partly finance students who are pursuing a first full-time diploma or degree course at local government institutions and are not receiving any subsidy or are in receipt of partial subsidy (75% and 50%) under the Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS).

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the MENDAKI Study Loan Full Time Local National, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Malay/Muslim Singaporeans / Singapore Permanent Residents.
  2. Students who are not receiving any subsidy or are in receipt of partial subsidy (75% and 50%) under the Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS).
  3. Have gained an unconditional admission for a first full-time diploma or first full-time degree at:
    1. Local government tertiary institutions, namely – Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic or Temasek Polytechnic, Nanyang Technological University/National Institute of Education, National University of Singapore/Yale-NUS College, Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Social Sciences or Singapore University of Technology and Design.
    2.  Selected courses with MOE tuition grants at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and LASALLE College of the Arts
    3. Technical Engineer Diploma courses at Institute of Technical Education or Full-time diploma courses at BCA Academy.
  4. Applicants are required to furnish 1* guarantor acceptable to MENDAKI. The acceptability of the guarantor will be at the discretion of the Loans Committee. The guarantor must fulfil the following requirements:
    1. Singaporean and residing in Singapore
    2. Between 21 and 55 years old.
    3. Minimum basic monthly income of $2,000 and not an undischarged bankrupt.
    4. Household Restrictions:
      1. Only one guarantor may reside in the same household as the applicant.
      2. The two guarantors should not from the same household.
    5. Guarantors cannot be an existing MENDAKI loan holder or guarantor for another MENDAKI loan.
    6. Guarantors will be prompted to submit their citizenship and income details through SingPass MyInfo.

*NOTE: Applicants are required to furnish 2 guarantors for total course fees exceeding SGD$100,000.


Loan Quantum Criteria

There are three catagories where students would be eligible for and its equivalent Loan Amount Disbursement (yearly) below :

  1. Students receiving 75% TTFS = 25% of the tuition fee (after tuition grant)
  2. Students receiving 50% TTFS = 50% of the tution fee (after tuition grant)
  3. Students not receiving TTFS = 100% of the tuition fee (after tuition grant)

The Study Loan will be given for the entire course of study for up to 4 years. The loan amount is at the discretion of the Loans Committee after taking into consideration the financial circumstances of the applicant, the course of study and other relevant criteria. Loan Approval and Agreement

Loan Approval and Agreement

  1. Successful applicants will be notified via email once their loan is approved.
  2. To accept the loan offer, both the applicant and guarantors must electronically sign the loan agreement within one week from the date of the agreement.
  3. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of the conditional approval, and a new application will be required.

Conditions of the Loan

As stated in the loan agreement, the loan holder must fulfil the following conditions throughout the course of study:

  1. Pass all subjects taken during the course.
  2. No changes to the agreed period of study.
  3. No changes to the course of study.
  4. No withdrawal or termination from the course or institution.
  5. No deferment without valid reasons.

Failure to meet any of these conditions, or any other terms in the loan agreement, will be considered a breach of contract. In such cases, the full loan amount will become immediately repayable.


Disbursement and Repayment

Disbursement
The loan will be disbursed annually throughout the course of study, based on the approved duration.

Repayment Schedule
Repayment begins: 1 month after the first disbursement
Initial repayment: $50 per month

6 months after graduation, the repayment amount will be revised based on the level of study:

  1. Diploma: $100/month
  2. Degree (non-medicine/equivalent): $250/month
  3. Degree (medicine/equivalent): $500/month

There will be a progressive annual increment of $100 thereafter.

The full repayment schedule will be detailed in the Loan Agreement.

We seek every loan applicant’s commitment to follow through with the repayment schedule. Your timely repayments ensure that MENDAKI can continue supporting other students in their educational journey.


Application Procedure

  1. All applications must be submitted online.
  2. Processing will take up to 7 weeks from the date of complete a submission, including all required attachments.

Important:
Incomplete applications, applications not accepted by guarantors, or those that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be processed.
