Job Summary
The jobholder (2-year contract) provides strategic leadership and oversight of Future Ready Work initiatives, which includes strategies to strengthen employability and future readiness among the Malay/Muslim supporting the community’s participation in growth and evergreen sectors. The Assistant Director leads his/her team to design and deliver impactful programmes, forge strategic partnerships, and ensure alignment with MENDAKI’s Future Ready and M3 FA4 objectives.
The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although the jobholder is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, occasional travel for meetings and programme visits is expected.
Key Responsibility Areas
Strategic and Partnership Management
a. Lead the strategic planning and implementation of employability initiatives to support to drive the organisation’s Work strategies.
b. Strengthen partnerships with employers, industry associations, educational institutions, and community organisations to develop impactful career and leadership pathways.
c. Represent MENDAKI in M3 FA4 and inter-agency platforms to advance employment and employability outcomes for the Malay/Muslim community.
d. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Communications, Partnerships, and Operations) to ensure alignment of messaging, branding, and workplan objectives.
e. Oversee the AI secretariat function for the community, reporting to MOS Rahayu
Programme Development and Management
a. Oversee the design, implementation and evaluation of employability and lifelong learning programmes for youths, jobseekers and workforce.
b. Guide teams in delivering career advisory sessions, mentoring, job shadowing, and traineeship opportunities in collaboration with Professional Networks and industry partners.
c. Oversee engagement strategies to attract and engage our youth databases and tertiary networks.
d. Ensure integration and synergy across workstreams to maximise impact and resource efficiency.
Team Leadership and Management
a. Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the team to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.
b. Set clear performance goals, monitor progress, and provide developmental feedback to build high-performing teams.
c. Lead team’s forecasting, planning and budgeting activities to ensure optimal resource allocation and efficiency.
d. Oversee budget management, utilisation, and reporting for all team’s schemes and initiatives.
e. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and mission-driven team culture aligned with MENDAKI’s organisational values and strategic direction.
Requirements
a. Relevant degree from a recognised institution preferred.
b. 6–8 years of relevant experience in career development, employment facilitation, or workforce engagement.
c. Proven leadership experience in strategic planning, programme management, and partnership development.
d. Strong understanding of workforce trends, community development, and digital engagement strategies.
e. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
f. Meticulous, resourceful, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.
g. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable outcomes.
