Yayasan MENDAKI is the pioneer Self-Help Group in providing tuition for the public. MENDAKI Tuition Scheme (MTS) aims to provide quality tuition at affordable rates to help students attain better results in their school and national examinations.
The Collaborative Tuition Programme (CTP) was introduced as part of collaboration with the other Self-Help Group (SHGs). The centres offer quality and affordable tuition to primary school students of all races and religion. The Self-Help Groups grant the tuition fee subsidy to the respective students according to race.
Ms Nur Ardini volunteers as an Empowerment Mentor under the Empowerment Programme. Curated especially for first-year ITE students, the Programme helps them acquire life skills, build confidence and be connected to opportunities, with the help of their mentors. “You’ll never know who or what will create the biggest change in someone’s personal growth or development in life,” Ms Ardini remarks.
Mr Fareed Muhammad is a recipient of the Dr Abdul Aziz Ali scholarship in 2017 & 2018. This scholarship is awarded to Muslim medical or dental students. Mr Fareed expressed his appreciation, noting that the scholarship has contributed in many ways to his education in his first year of medical school.
Ms Rafidah, an MTS tutor, ensures she has a great rapport with her students to facilitate their learning. Before the start of each lesson, she spares time catching up on how her students are doing in school and their highlights of the week.
Mohamed Farouq is a MENDAKI Scholarship recipient in 2019. In his pursuit of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing at NUS, Farouq believes that the scholarship has enabled him to achieve a holistic university life, lightening the financial burden of his accommodation fees.
Mdm Fariza Abdul Jamal attended KelasMateMatika@CC (KMM@CC) and found the programme beneficial. The programme empowers parents with Mediation Learning Experience (MLE) skills so that they are more confident to teach their children in learning the basic numeracy concepts. “I will put the teaching techniques I learnt into practice to guide my children better.”
